BENGALURU: Malleswaram police on Sunday arrested a gang of four youths, including the son of a BJP party worker for assaulting a police constable. The incident took place in a bar on Saturday night and they quarrelled with bar staff over serving water.

The arrested are identified as Karl Marx (21), son of Chi. Na. Ramu, Principal Secretary BJP, SC Morcha, his friends Shreyas, Keshav and Chetan all aged 20 years and residents of Malleswaram were also arrested.
A senior police officer said that Marx, along with his friends had come to Viking Bar at Rajajinagar 6th Block.

They were under the influence of alcohol and while leaving the bar, Marx picked up a quarrel with cashier to get water bottle. Constable Umesh along with home guard Rudresh were patrolling the area and rushed there to see what happened. Umesh pushed Marx out from the bar using lathi. Marx snatched the lathi and attacked Umesh brutally with the help of his friends. Rudresh came out of the bar while the staff tried to save Umesh and alerted the Hoysala police. They were taken into custody and after the interrogation they were arrested on the charges of assault and handed over to judicial custody.

Chi. Na. Ramu told Express “My son has no courage to assault cops and police officials brutally assaulted him in the custody. I was in Delhi when the incident took place and my wife informed about the incident.”
