All pending cases cleared, retired judge quits as panel chief

The chairman of the committee constituted by the state government to oversee admissions at professional colleges has tendered his resignation.

BENGALURU: The chairman of the committee constituted by the state government to oversee admissions at professional colleges has tendered his resignation.On Saturday, Anand Byrareddy, retired judge, Karnataka High Court submitted his resignation which will be effective from Monday. As mentioned in the letter, he has resigned as all pending cases have been cleared and there will not be any work for the next one year.

Meanwhile, several students who have filed  cases with the committee are  worried with this decision by the committee head.“Committee had passed orders for refund of the excess fee collected, but we will not be having anyone if the colleges harass us later,” said a student.The committee had passed some important orders recently where the medical and dental colleges which collected excess fee from students were told to refund the same with 18per cent annual interest. In one case the committee asked Rajiv Gandhi University of health sciences to collect double the penalty as a state medical college was harassing a student by keeping his original documents and demanding `10 lakh.
