Kavalu Daari’s muhurath is to be held on September 22, and Puneeth Rajkumar talks to City Express about his new production house named after his mother Parvathamma Rajkumar Films and his future ventures

Puneeth Rajkumar is confident about where he is headed because he knows well where he has been. Having spent four decades in the industry and born into a family deeply rooted into films,  the actor has decided to take on more responsibilities. He is turning producer with Parvatharamma Rajkumar Films (PRK Films) and the muhurath of his banner’s first venture, Kavalu Daari, directed by Hemanth M Rao of Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu fame, will be held tomorrow.

Puneeth Rajkumar, who is currently shooting for Anjaniputra,  talks to City Express about his production venture. He tells us that the film will be produced by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar under PRK Films, which will come under his family’s banner Vajreshwari Combines.

“I have always dreamt of working with exceptional filmmakers and experimental scripts. And, I am glad to tie-up with Hemanth for Kavalu Daari,” he says. “Initially Karthik and I had planned to collaborate for this film,  but that did not take off and we decided to start off on our own.”

Puneeth is immensely thrilled to associate with Hemanth, for a movie that has Rishi playing the lead along with Roshini Prakash, Achyuth Kumar and Suman Rangantha. “Of course, Anant Nag has always been my favourite artiste and having him on board is exciting,” he tells us. He says that the film will be well executed by captain of the ship Hemanth, and adds, “but we will definitely be there to provide whatever the film needs and I definitely want the audience to appreciate our work.” Puneeth says he has known Hemanth for a long time now.

Open to any creative attempt

The actor emphasises that the production house will become a platform for creative directors and good scripts. “If a director is new, we will go through the kind of short films he or she has made,” he says, adding, “Selection will depend on the kind of films the script writers and directors bring to the table.  There are no formalities, but everything has to fall in place.”

I will be working under production house Vajreshwari , PRK  and I will act with other producers too

The Vajreshwari banner, created by his parents, has produced great films and Puneeth says that he plans to start producing films under that banner too next year. He will also be acting in them. Dismissing reports suggesting that he will not be working with anyother producers, he says, “Acting is ingrained in me
and I am ready to work with any producer and director who have a good project. After all, it is all about promoting good Kannada films that can travel across the country.”

PRK Production’s second outing

Another film under PRK Films will soon go on floors, which will be directed by debutant Radhakrishna. “This film will have us collaborating with producer M Govinda, who made Doddmane Hudga,” Puneeth says.
