History-sheeter booked for suicide bid

The Vidhana Soudha police have registered an FIR against former BBMP corporator and history-sheeter V Nagaraj for attempting to commit suicide.

BENGALURU:The Vidhana Soudha police have registered an FIR against former BBMP corporator and history-sheeter V Nagaraj for attempting to commit suicide.Nagaraj, while addressing a press conference at the Press Club of Bengaluru on Friday, had attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison.

He accused KPCC working president Dinesh Gundurao, Minister for Bengaluru Development KJ George and several police officers of subjecting him and his family members to mental torture. He had alleged that Dinesh Gundurao, George and others were trying hard to ensure that he doesn’t contest from Gandhinagar assembly constituency in the coming election.

Police said that an FIR has been registered under Section 309 (attempt to commit suicide) of the IPC. “Nagaraj is still undergoing treatment at a hospital. We will decide on arresting him once he is discharged,” an official said.
