BENGALURU:Two staffers of secretariat office and a lift operator in Vidhana Soudha were stuck in a lift for more than an hour due to malfunction on Monday evening. The fire and emergency personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the staff who work at Vidhana Soudha's East Gate entrance.

A police officer said that Suresh Kumar (56) and Vishveshwarappa (60), who work at the chief minister's office, and Chinnaswamy Gowda (58), the lift operator, were inside the lift around 4.20 pm when the lift got stuck between second and third floor. Gowda tried to open the door manually but in vain. Then, Vishveshwarappa called fire and emergency service department and after an hour, they came out of the lift.
Vishveshwarappa told TNIE, "The lift was moving down from the third floor and got stuck between third and the second floor. We panicked because the technical staff got delayed in reaching us.

However, the lift operator, Gowda, convinced us to keep calm as nothing would happen. After an hour, fire personnel lifted the lift to the third floor and opened the door. This is first time I got stuck in the lift in my 22 years of service." Interestingly, the lift was newly installed, which took everyone by surprise.
