Tigress caught, released in Nagarhole

MYSURU:  Villagers living in and around Mettikuppe forest range were relieved as the tigress that killed and attacked more than a dozen cattle, was trapped in a cage that was placed in one Somegowda’s field in Aganasana hundi of H D Kote taluk on Monday.

Forest officials released the four-year-old tigress into Nagarhole National Park later as there were reports that it attacked cattle in Saiddapura, Solepura, Agasanahundi, G M Halli and Kallahati villages. After facing criticism, the officials had  launched a hunt for it. They had also placed a cage and fixed four cameras to record the movement of the big cat.

The villagers also pulled up authorities for delay in payment of relief for cattle deaths in the tiger attack.
