CHENNAI: City police arrested a painter for allegedly killing his neighbour over a personal dispute at K K Nagar here on Friday.
According to police, Hari Krishnan (34) of K K Nagar had allegedly attacked his neighbour Annaduari, also a painter when they were consuming alcohol at a Civil Supply godown, on Thursday.
Annadurai had borrowed Rs 500 from Krishnan a few days ago and returned only Rs 400. When Krishnan asked him to give the remaining amount that led to a heated argument. In a fit of fury, Krishnan attacked Annadurai with a wooden log on his head and the later fainted. Though Annadurai was taken to a hospital, the doctors there declared him as brought dead.
Without informing police, the family members were arranging for the last ritual, when one friend of the deceased informed police. The police sent the body for postmortem on Friday. The postmortem report stated that Annadurai died due to a head injury. Police arrested Krishnan and remanded him to judicial custody.
