CHENNAI: Mother’s day celebrations were many around the city on both Saturday and Sunday, but this was different.
Anbulla Amma was no usual one aimed at splurging or for a certain age group of mothers who don the corporate mask. This one invited people of all age groups and was held at Hotel Green Park. About 200 mothers gathered to spend the day with their children. Organised by Twilite Corpos the event had children of all ages and men and women making the age group as wide as from seven to 70.
The event started with a video clip in honour of the mothers present with the idea of making them feel proud about being mothers. The children expressed their love for their mothers through many means like singing, dancing, skits and recitals.
Each of them was required to present their mother with a crown with something special written on it.
The children also celebrated Anbulla Amma by cutting a cake for their mothers and singing Happy Mother’s day.
There were many other special acts carried out by the children in honour of their mothers, while the younger ones sang Neya Neya, Sarah David sang a remixed version of the same for her mother. Bhuvana performed a Bharatnatyam piece for her mother and Thangavel sketched his mother’s picture in as less as six minutes on stage. Every mother left the venue with a gift from Lakme, Narayana Pearls and of course tears of joy and pride in their eyes.
