CHENNAI: Amid speculations of AICC general Secretary Rahul Gandhi’s participation, the Indian National Youth Congress’ padayatra is all set to conclude here with a public function on Wednesday.

The padayatra was organised to strengthen the Congress at the grassroots and to educate common people about the achievements of the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre.

Yuvaraj, state president of the Youth Congress, said the padayatra, which started from Kaliyikkavilai on October 2, covered 1,196 km in 53 days. It touched 24 parliamentary constituencies, 122 assembly segments and 1,470 villages. Members of the padayatra distributed 27 lakh pamphlets detailing the achievements of the central government.

Yuvaraj said CDs of the padayatra would be presented to Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Youth Congress national president Rajeev Satav and TNCC president K V Thangkabalu will attend the concluding function at Kamarajar Arangam here on Wednesday.
