CHENNAI: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) unit at Chennai Port Trust has organised a zonal-level ‘Debate Competition on Human Rights’ for Central Paramilitary forces at Seafarer’s Club a few days ago.

Seven teams from Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and CISF participated in the competition. The topic was ‘Occasional stage managed encounter killings of terrorists are in the interest of peace and security in the society’. PK Bharti, Commandant, ChPT Chennai welcomed the participants. Dr K Mariappan, Member, State Human Rights Commission, Chennai, Shakeel Akhtar, IGP (HQ) Chennai and M Ravi, IGP, Chief Vigilance Officer, TNCMPFL were the jury members for the debate competition.

The jury members selected Vivek Sharma, Asst. Commandant of CISF and Afsara Khan, SI/Exe of CISF for first prize in English section and S K Chaudhary, Inspector of CISF and Sheikh Kadar Basa, HC/GD of CISF for first price in Hindi section.

Mariappan and M Ravi gave away prizes to winners of the debate competition on behalf of National Human Rights Commission.
