Calling Kollywood...

Calling Kollywood...

Way back in the early 1970s, Tamil film audience were transported to Japan through a celluloid experience when MGR's Ulagam Suttrum Valiban (Globe-trotting youth) was shot there.  But after that, Kollywood has not taken a fascination to Japan and exotic locales chosen for song sequences are normally elsewhere in Europe or Australia.

Film makers could visit Japan for shooting films, says Kayoko Furukawa, the consul for culture, information and development affairs in Chennai. She says that Japan offers a wide range of potential locales for film shooting and has all the facilities, too.

If Tamil films feature scenes of Japanese towns, landscapes and natural beauty, more tourists will be prompted to visit the country.

Film makers seeking to explore shooting locales in Japan can contact her at 24323860 or the Consulate -General of Japan at Cenetoph Road first street in Chennai.
