Chairperson of Cancer Institute Dr V Shanta announced recently that plans are underway to start a separate palliative care hospital as part of the institute.
“The institute is the leader in palliative care in the city as it is in treating cancer. We would like to extend the service to those who need it,” she said, speaking at the release of a book on palliative care. The book, written by head of department of pain and palliative care of Cancer Institute, Dr Azhar Hussain, is titled Saarbiyal Maruthuvam (Supportive Care).
