Auto bumps on ADGP car; 2 hurt

Two persons, including the driver of a load auto, sustained injuries after the auto hit the car of an Additional Director General of Police near Injambakkam on Tuesday.

Though news spread that the ADGP was inside the car along with his family members when the mishap occurred, traffic police officials investigating the case said they were not aware if there were any occupants in the vehicle. “We usually make note of the accident that two vehicles collided. We do not know if there was anyone in the car,” said traffic inspector Ravikumaran. Police were investigating if the driver fell asleep while driving.

Police said that the senior officer’s car, driven by sub-inspector Ramachandran, was leaving a house in Injambakkam at 7.45 am and was reportedly heading to the city on the East Coast Road when a load auto, driven by one Modhi Babu (30) of Panaiyur, hit the car. Police sources said that load auto driver did not have a driving licence. Modhi and Praveen (20), a resident of Thoraipakkam who was on board the auto, fell off the vehicle due to the impact of the collision and sustained injuries. Police said Modhi sustained injuries to the back of his head and leg and Praveen on the front of his head. Both were rushed to hospital.

Police said the frontage of the auto and the rear end of the car were damaged.
