Renowned journalist Sashi Nair has been appointed as the director of the Press Institute of India – Research Institute for Newspaper Development. He succeeds V Murali, who was with the organisation for about 16 years. Nair is currently the editor of Vidura, RIND Survey and Grassroots. Nair’s earlier stint includes organisations like The Hindu Business Line, The Times of India, The Economic Times, and for WAN-IFRA (World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers). He began his career as an officer in United India Insurance Company. After eight years in UNI, he joined the TTK Group where he headed the PR function for a decade.
