University of Latvia has entered into an MoU with Madras University on faculty exchange, the rector of the varsity Marcis Auzinsh has said.
Auzinsh, who is part of a high level Latvian delegation led by the country’s foreign affairs minister Edgars Rinkevics said that the MoU is signed in the wake of Lativia University having separate centre on Indian studies.
“Since the focus is on subjects related to India, we have entered into an MoU with Madras University,” he said. Rinkevics said the focus of his visit is to boost the economic ties with India.
The Latvian foreign minister said delegation is also looking at investments in tourism, IT sector and logistics. On shooting, for films he said,“We are not that costly as Western European nations.” The delegation also met TN governor Rosaiah and Chennai Port Trust chairman Atulya Mishra. The visit would conclude in New Delhi where he will meet his Indian counterpart Salman Khurshid.
