Book reading session held

A reading session of ‘Insight – A Passion for Compassion’ was held here on Monday, organised by Madras Book Club and Sankara Nethralaya.

A reading session of ‘Insight – A Passion for Compassion’ was held here on Monday, organised by Madras Book Club and Sankara Nethralaya.

The book is a story about the eye hospital Sankara Nethralaya’s inception, growth and its service. It was written by V V Ranganathan.

Addressing the gathering, Uma Balasubramanian, daughter of late writer and editor of Kalaimagal Ki Va Ja said, “My father got introduced to Sankara Nethralaya through Maha Periyaval Chandrashekarendra Saraswati. From then onwards my father had a relationship with the hospital being as a patient and a donor”.

The excerpts from the book were read out by actor and anchor P C Ramakrishna. The event was held as a part of promotional exercise and the profits from book will go to hospital’s charity  programmes, thereby providing eye care to the poor for free of cost.

Dr S S Badrinath, chairman, Dr Kris Vasan, managing director, Akila Ganesan, senior general manager, Sankara Nethralaya were also present at the occasion.
