Cheating case transferred to CB-CID

The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court transferred investigation on a criminal complaint alleging cheating, forgery and misappropriation of funds against three individuals in Thoothukudi to the CB-CID, recently.

Justice K B K Vasuki passed an order to this effect on a criminal original petition from Vishwakarma Realtors, by its managing partner C Shankar, in Chennai.

According to advocate Abudukumar Rajarathinam, Henry, Paul and another person approached the petitioner company for sale of about 1,500 acres in Sillangulam village in Thoothukudi district during 2008.

As the transaction did not materialise and the money given was not returned, petitioner lodged a complaint with the Kadampur police for offences under various sections of the IPC. However, the inspector did not register a case as the accused were influential persons in the locality.

Hence, the present petition to direct the police to register a case and transfer the same to the CB-CID for investigation, Kumar said.
