Tribute to the lyrical poet

\'Satrangi\' will perform some popular Majrooh Sultanpuri numbers

Fans of evergreen lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri, who has penned down foot-tapping numbers like Baar Baar Dekho,  romantic ones like  Tum Jo Huve Mere Humsafar, the popular sentimental song Chahunga Main Tujhe  and ghazals like Hum Bekhudi Mein, now get a chance to enjoy his brilliance.

Satrangi, a musical group, will showcase the works of the master lyricist with various music directors through a presentation ‘Majrooh – The Evergreen Lyricist' on July 26, at Rajarathinam Auditorium, R A Puram.

A versatile poet and lyricist, who contributed memorable songs to the Hindi film industry for over five decades, Majrooh Sultanpuri has worked with several music directors including Naushad, O P Nayyar, Madan Mohan, R D Burman, S D Burman, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Salil Choudhury and Roshan.

Songs from movies like China Town, CID, Dosti, Aar Paar, Dil Deke Dekho, Maya, Teesri Manzil, Paying Guest, Pakeezah, Kala Pani, Saathi, Mamta and many others will be presented by singers Pramod, Sarvesh from Mumbai and Sinchan from Bengaluru.

The event will be held from 6.45 pm. Tickets are priced at Rs 500 and  Rs 300.
