Parents of rescued girl thank police

The parents of a 17-year-old girl who was rescued by the Egmore police after she went missing a couple of weeks back, thanked the cops here on Monday, for rescuing her.

Sources said that the girl had gone missing on July 5, and her parents filed a complaint at the Egmore police station.Investigations revealed that the girl had run away from her house following a tiff with her family, and was planning to go abroad.

Her mobile tower locations pointed to a hotel in Nagore, but efforts to locate her there turned futile, since she had been changing SIM cards to stay undetected.

However, call records suggested that she was in regular touch with some of her friends and one of them tipped off the cops.

She had told her friend that she would be arriving at Chennai on Monday, and would leave for Singapore thereafter. Cops picked her up as she arrived in the city.
