Won’t give any lecture, says scholar’s FB post

Just an update and a few details. I was invited to Tamil Nadu, city of Chennai at the University of Madras with a contract also negotiated with the US consulate office to give a few lectures, a workshop and meet with the Ladies jamaat and STEP.

Some “group” (name not given to me) decided they were opposed to this and claimed I had given a lecture elsewhere in Tamil Nadhu and there was a riot or some kind of disturbance and threatened violence if I gave a lecture at Madras.

The university was compelled (by the police..!) to cancel the event. I have never given any lectures in Tamil Nadu and all the lectures I have given in India went without even the SLIGHTEST incident. Since I was stuck at the home airport for 7 hours (mechanical difficulty) when I learned of them I told them I am happy to come right back to my own bed.

However, I did decide this vicious lie and violent threat was the final straw for me. I do not wish to tackle the “problem of Islam” in India so I will be closing my apartment after I have completed some other responsibilities in the region.

I will also NOT give any lectures, discussion, consultations, interviews or anything about Islam here. I will SAVE my breath for people of love and spirit and I am NOT really finding that sufficiently here so I give up. I am leaving India and returning to America shortly. (sic)
