Man pours acid on sleeping dad's face, kills him

A 65-year-old man has been allegedly killed by his son who poured acid on his face when he was sleeping in the house on Thursday.

A 65-year-old man has been allegedly killed by his son who poured acid on his face when he was sleeping in the house on Thursday. Police said the deceased E David, a resident of Ambattur, was later admitted to a hospital where he died in the evening. The police have arrested David’s son Antony (39) on charges of murder.

“There were frequent quarrels between the father and son. Antony was unmarried as he did not have a proper job. He was frustrated and used to blame his father for his situation. On Wednesday night, they have had a bitter quarrel and later both went to sleep. On the next day morning when none were present in the house, the accused had poured acid kept to clean toilets on his father,” said a police officer.

Accused hurt

A 26-year-old murder case accused injured himself on Egmore Court premises. Police said Inbavel, a history sheeter, was arrested by Pulianthope police following a harassment complaint from his wife Senthamarai. While he was taken to the court, he injured himself with a blade to threaten the policemen. He suffered a minor injury on the chest and was taken to government Royapettah hospital from wherehe was remanded to judicial custody.  Senthamarai alleged that the police picked up Inbavel based on a harassement complaint filed by her, but later booked him under false robbery cases.

VCK men arrested

Over 500 VCK members led by its party chief Thol Thirumavalavan were arrested near Valluvar Kottam for staging protest demanding that India not participate in the CHOGM in Colombo in November this year. They warned of protests and hoisting of black flags state-wide if their demand was not acceded by the Centre. The protestors alleged that if the request is ignored by the Centre, several protests will be followed to express the feelings of Tamils and condemning India’s participation in the summit.

Man kidnapped

A 26-year-old leather tannery owner was allegedly kidnapped by four men who posed as police officers on Wednesday. He runs a tannery unit in Pallavaram.

According to Yasin Banu, four men visited her house on Wednesday evening looking for her husband Yaser Arafat. They asked him to go along with them for an inquiry. Believing the gang to be cops, Arafat accompanied them in a car. His wife decided to approach police after he did not return home.

When she inquired about her husband at Ice House police station,they denied sending any policemen to Arafat’s house and said there was no enquiry involving him. Banu tried contacting her husband but was unable to reach him. She lodged a complaint with police.
