A fashion show where most eyes were fixated near the models’ heels? Strange, but it did happen. Read on to find out why
Sandy Tales, Stand up Comedy and Snazzy Feet

CHENNAI: You know a shoe brand means business when you’re greeted by a fair maiden who appears seven-foot-tall at the doorway. So tall that the length of her red dress forms the red carpet for you to walk on! The first question on our minds of course is -ohmigod how high could those hidden heels be?

The launch party of Kethini’s flagship store at the Sheraton Park Hotel and Towers started off as we expected fashionably late. And while most guests imagined a little glitz and glam on the ramp with the brand’s collection - boy were they in for a lot more. Stand up comedian from Delhi Rajneesh Kapoor shook things up a little covering everything from flying phobia to what jokes potential mother-in-laws crack about their sons to embarrass them. And sand artist Kaushik drew the long, dramatic story behind the brand with his magic fingers and dark sand as fine as cocoa.

As for the shoes, which take we hear one hundred craftsmen to precisely put together a single pair - it’s safe to say we weren’t disappointed. From tanned brown formals to dainty white ballerinas with a bow on top - Kethini’s showcase over multiple sequences ranging from formals to casual to party wear seemed to have them all. And the creations brought out by family-run corporate, the Good Leather Group is led by KR Vijayan.

Also present to grace the occasion was Italian footwear designer Bettini, the brain behind the brand’s women’s line. With other designers from Italy roped in as well, we’re told the brand has big expansion plans - which include 10 Kethini lounges in India and Asia, besides 50 multi-brand stores across India over the next financial year.

The Kethini’s Lounge is located at New no 97, Old no 49, TTK Road, Alwarpet. Contact 43506667
