A Journey Into Spiritual Bliss

A Journey Into Spiritual Bliss

CHENNAI: It is during December that we realise there is a fifth season called ‘melody’ which fills people’s minds with joy. Each sabha is witness to swarming music lovers throughout the month during this season.

At the carnatic music concert that was held at the Vani Mahal recently, people were enthused to listen to the renditions of carnatic singer Mohan Santhanam, who is a graded artist for All India Radio.

For rasikas who frequent such concerts, he might be a familiar figure. His beautiful rendition kept them engrossed, taking them through a journey of spiritual bliss and musical excellence.

As one looked around, the audience seemed to be well informed about the raga and thala of the songs that he was singing, a few even hummed along with him. The audience enjoyed the songs that he delivered with the much-needed precision.

Mohan Santhanam’s voice was complemented by an equally flawless performance by the accompanying artistes — V Sanjeev on violin and Madipakkam Suresh on Mridangam. Mohan intermittently stopped and gave space for the other artistes on stage to unleash their enormous talent.
