Crackdown Begins on Illegal Form Sale

CHENNAI: With reports of illegal sale of the DBTL forms, which are meant to be given free of cost, by individuals near gas agencies, officials of oil companies have begun conducting inspections across five districts in and around Chennai to crackdown on the practice.

A senior Bharatgas official told Express on Wednesday that reports of touts selling DBTL forms for `5 near photocopier shops has prompted the inspection. “Each official is visiting at least eight to 10 outlets to inspect this. We are ensuring that forms are available in plenty so that consumers are not cheated by unscrupulous elements,” he said.

Forms for DBTL registration as well as name change could also be downloaded from the website www.mylpg.in. “Those who have access to the internet, should try and complete the formalities online as it would reduce the load on gas agencies,” said an oil company representative.
