CHENNAI: The finals of Mad O Mania, a charity fundraiser by Make a Difference (MAD), which included creative writing, drawing and spell bee competitions for school students, ended recently. DAV Public School, Maharishi International Residential School and Dominic Savio High School competed against each other in the event which was held in Aloft hotels, Sholinganallur, during the finals.

The event, which also included other activities besides competitions, saw participation from enthusiastic children. “The event was a lot of fun. I’ll participate next year also,” said Shreya, a 10-year-old participant. All through the event, volunteers of MAD interacted with parents and children, and had each of them occupied. The event, volunteers say, could not have been a success without the sponsors Aloft hotels, Sholinganallur. All proceeds from the event, which the volunteers spent two months preparing for, went towards educating children at risk.  MAD, which is present in over 23 cities with around 2,000 volunteer teachers, aims at providing children with opportunities to unleash their talent. It’s a great way for children to come together and match wits at an age where every bit of interaction is seen as a learning experience.
