CHENNAI: Trisha, who has done loads for animal adoption, on Wednesday morning, took to cleaning an upcoming animal shelter in Mudichur, near Tambaram. “Here I am kickstarting my Swachch Bharath Campaign with a lovely bunch of people. Today, I volunteer for India and her environment,” she said in a video on the Web, after her two hour clean up.
The initiative by Environmentalist Foundation of India had 19 volunteers accompanying the actor to clean up the shelter, which will be functional from January 2015, and cater to sick, injured and diseased stray animals. “According to me, cleanliness could define anything. We clean roads and lakes, and today we decided to clean an animal shelter because cleanliness is very important for animals as well. Since I endorse a lot of animal welfare programmes, I thought this will be a two in one campaign for me,” she said. Trisha and the EFI volunteers removed garbage and segregated degradable and non-degradable waste. “It has been a very productive and tough Wednesday morning for me,” she said. Later, she took to Twitter to nominate Vishal, Jayam Ravi and Jeeva to take it forward.
