36 Denied Bail in Teacher Case

CHENNAI: A City Sessions Court on Friday dismissed bail petitions of all the 36 accused, including the prime accused D Arulanandhu, in the teacher assault case.

When the matter came for hearing before the Principal Sessions Court, Chennai, the accused submitted that they were innocent. Prime accused Arulanandhu, MD of a private firm Rich India, contended that the teacher had assaulted his son, a class eight student of Loyola Matriculation School in Kodambakkam. He contended police, instead of taking action on his plaint, had implicated him falsely in the case.

City Public Prosecutor ML Jegan argued that since the case was in the preliminary stage of investigation, the accused could tamper with evidence if released. Accepting the contention,  judge M Athinathan dismissed the bail pleas.
