‘No caste clashes’
Chennai: Asserting that caste clashes did not take place in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts in the past three and half years, Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Monday said in the State Assembly that the incidents of murders reported in the areas were related to individual issues.
Old age Pension
Chennai: Denying the allegation of Opposition that old age pension has been stopped for thousands of beneficiaries, Revenue Minister RB Udayakumar told the State Assembly that the officials were checking the veracity of beneficiaries, only to weed out bogus and ineligible ones.
Audit Bill passed
Chennai: A bill to provide an effective and efficient audit system for local bodies was passed in the Assembly on Friday. The government stated that the 13th Finance Commission in its report had recommended that the State government must put in place an audit system for all local bodies.
Chennai: Government on Monday enacted the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Tamil Nadu Amendment) Act, 2014 which authorises the State to issue a notification to apply the provisions of Central Act 30 of 2013.
