171 Films to be Screened at CIFF-2014

CHENNAI: As many as 171 movies from 45 countries will be screened at the 12th edition of the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) to be launched on December 18. Speaking to media persons at the South Indian Chamber of Commerce, Sivan Kannan, president, ICAF and CIFF said, “This is perhaps the largest ever film festival that’s being organised by an independent film loving community in India.” E Thangaraj, the festival director, said that the festival would go on till December 25. “The festival, which will come to a close on December 25, will also see a competition among 12 Tamil movies,” he said adding, “Also, 17 films have been selected from the Indian panorama.”

Ravi Kotarakara, committee member, SIFC; Schippert Helmet, director, Goethe Institute; and actress Poornima Bhagyaraj also spoke on the occasion.
