CISF Plaint Against Alagiri Exit

CHENNAI: Security personnel on duty at the Chennai airport on Monday are believed to have placed a complaint with the airport manager after former Union Minister M K Alagiri entered the terminal through the arrival gate. Confirming it, a CISF official said that they had informed the Airport Authority of India (AAI) AAI and Bureau of Civil Aviation Safety (BCAS) about the breach in protocol after the former DMK leader had left by air to Madurai.

Alagiri had been booked to fly to Madurai by AI 671 that was to depart at 12.40 pm. Anticipating his departure, mediapersons were waiting for him on the departure level - which is on the upper floor. Probably unwilling to be accosted by the contingent waiting there, Alagiri chose to enter the airport terminal through the arrival hall on the ground level, at 1 pm.

VIPs have the option of using a separate entry - but never interchange the arrival and departure. Sources said that Alagiri was accompanied by Air India officials, but security officials did not  have any knowledge about it. AAI officials when contacted, said that they would look into the matter if it was brought to them.
