CHENNAI: A 10th standard student has been arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault and murder of an 11-year-old girl in Vellore, a senior police official said on Wednesday.

The 15-year-old boy, belonging to the same school where the victim was studying in class VI, was arrested and remanded, Vellore Superintendent of Police P K Senthil Kumari told PTI.
The girl's body was found after being allegedly assaulted at K V Kuppam near Gudiyatham in Vellore on Tuesday, sparking outrage in the local community.
She was the daughter of a daily wage labourer and the parents had preferred a complaint with police after she failed to return home from school on Monday.
