CHENNAI: This Margazhi, getting to sabhas has become cool, quick and free! Palam Silks, one of Chennai’s premier fashion silk labels unveiled a free air-conditioned bus service, Palam Udan Isai Payanam recently. The free ride starts from Palam Silks Showroom, Luz Church Road, to major sabhas hosting music and dance performances this month. The initiative was flagged off by vocalist Nithyasree Mahadevan and bharathanatyam dancer Srinidhi Chidambaram. The buses, said the organisers, will operate on four routes and will cover The Music Academy, Narada Gana Sabha, Sivagami Petachi Auditorium, Mylapore Fine Arts and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Jeyasree Ravi, proprietor of Palam Silks, who was present at the launch, said, “Many people look forth to this month, in order to attend the kutcheris. We want to be the part of their experience and pay tribute to the maestros who grace us at that time.”
