Governor Gives Medals to Wheelchair Basketball Champions

CHENNAI: Governor K Rosaiah presented trophies and medals to winners of  the first national wheel chair basketball championship that was held from December 17 to 20 at a function held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium. Speaking at the function, Rosaiah said that reducing the stigma and discrimination associated with disability, highlighting their skills, facilitating and motivating them and honing their special skills is important. Sports act as a transformation tool for women with disabilities, who often experience double discrimination.”
