Holiday Carnival with the Pets

CHENNAI: Chennai had its first carnival for cats and dogs organised by the Chennai Adoption Drive over the weekend. With game stalls, tarot card reading and even an interactive storytelling session, the event held on the Chettinad Vikasam grounds in Adyar, would have been perfect if not for the rain. “We want to put this up every year,” says Jennifer Jacob-Murali, the lady behind the effort. Perhaps the only downer was that there were more pet owners than pets spotted at the carnival. And Santa Claus’ mask didn’t help any, when one nervous canine darted back underneath his car seat, refusing to come out!

However, it was a fun day out for the pooches and their owners all in all. Not to mention, funds were raised for rescued Indian cats and dogs, as part of the carnival.
