The New Indian Express organised a Christmas Santa Contest on Facebook as part of the Christmas celebrations.
Beating all the entries, Vignesh Paramasivam was declared the winner.
The million dollar question was: Who is India’s Santa Claus according to you?
Vignesh proposed Kalyansundaram, a common man who has an uncommon vision and principles for helping others, and we couldn’t agree more.
Kalyansundaram is a social activist who committed 45 years of his life for the greater good of the common man. A librarian by profession, he gave his salary to charity and did odd jobs to meet his daily needs. His work came to the notice of the Union Government, who endowed him the award of the best librarian in India. His charity work was acknowledged by The International Biographical Centre, Cambridge. United Nations recognised him as one of the most outstanding people of the 20th century. He received Man of the Millennium award and Life Time Service Award from the Rotary Club of India in 2011.
We extend the compliments of the season and congratulations to Vignesh for winning the award. The award was presented by Siddharth Sonthalia, Executive Director (ENPL) along with Vignesh Kumar, VP Marketing (Express Group) and Pradeep Rajadas, Managing Director (Sociall.in).
