A worker, who was trapped inside a submarine for more than three hours docked at the Port Trust, could not recall the critical hours inside the vessel. Jeyakumar (24), a native of Tiruvannamalai, is admitted to the Intensive Medical Care Unit of the Poison Control Centre in Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital along with the diver Karamjith Singh.
Speaking to Express, Jeyakumar could only recall entering the vessel at around 4.30 pm to do some welding work. His version of the incident was quite contradictory to what Karamjit Singh said. Jeyakumar said he felt uneasy minutes after entering the vessel due to the smell of paint and left the submarine immediately.
But, Karamjit said the divers went to rescue him only after he started waving. The worker also could not remember anyone accompanying him and said he was the only one who entered the vessel while others were waiting outside.
