68-yr-old Dies after Tipsy Man's Assault

CHENNAI: A 68-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death at Otteri on Monday by an allegedly drunken person who picked up a petty quarrel with him.

Police said the victim K Sathaiah, a resident of Mettupalayam area in Otteri, was having tea in a shop at Babu Lane when one Paranthaman (34) picked up a quarrel with him over a trivial issue. Following this, Paranthaman  assaulted Sathaiah and fled after a few locals tried to catch him.

“The victim had left the place and managed to walk to his house. But, after a few minutes, he swooned and became unconscious. He was declared brought dead in the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital where he was taken to by his relatives,” said a police officer.

Based on information from the hospital, the Otteri police seized the body and registered a case of murder.
