5 Cab Drivers Held for Chain Snatching

CHENNAI: In yet another incident of cabbies indulging in chain snatching to pay off their EMIs, the City Police arrested five car drivers and recovered as much as 27 sovereigns from them, here on Thursday.

Police said Ranjith Kumar (31) of Perumbakam, Senthil Kumar (34) of Thanjavur, Muthu Krishnan (35) of Taramani, Nagarajan (31) of Perungudi, Loganathan alias Alex (30) of Velachery, all operating own cabs purchased on bank loans, ran into trouble in repaying installments. Tthey unanimously went on a chain snatching spree to meet the ends. They first stole a bike and used to snatch chains.
