CHENNAI: Piano recitals are supremely passe. Battles on the other hand, are extremely in. And though they won’t be taking each other on, three of the best pianists to ever hit a key in the city - Anil Srinivasan, Sharik Hasan and Alexandra Minoza — will perform on Saturday at 7.30 pm, at the Goethe Institut.

The best part is that there will be very little redundancy as all three of them —masters in their chosen musical streams— will be playing three genres. This will leave the audience wanting very little else, as the trio promise to take them on a journey that begins with Srinivasan’s Indian contemporary notes, blending into Hasan’s trademark jazz and culminating with Minoza’s cultured classical tones. Organised as part of the Fête de la Musique by the Alliance Francaise of Madras, the Goethe Institut, Inko Centre, KM College of Music, Rhapsody and Musee Musical, the event promises to form one of those lasting memories.

The concert is free but seating is limited at the Goethe Institut auditorium. The show begins at 7.30 pm on Saturday.
