CHENNAI: AIADMK commenced disbursal of financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh each announced by party supremo, J Jayalalithaa, to the families of the 219 people who had ended their lives on her imprisonment, last month. Additionally, three persons being treated in hospitals, will receive Rs 50,000 each.
Senior leaders of the party, including Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who is also the treasurer of the AIADMK and party presidium chairman E Madhusudanan, visited the residences of some of the families of those who had ended their lives. In all, 34 families received assistance on Saturday. In the coming days, AIADMK leaders will be visiting the rest of the families to hand over the assistance.
