CHENNAI : Keeping in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to the nation and the citizens to clean India, under the Swachh Bharat initiative, Agarthulir foundation conducted a clean-up drive on the sands of the Marina on Sunday.

Around 90 members of the foundation participated in the clean up drive which took place near the Kannagi statue.

The volunteers ventured into the sands and picked up discarded glass bottles and plastic wastes from the coastal area. Before the drive began, the foundation’s president, Kumanan, called on members from the public and encouraged more participation in similar events.

“It is important to carry the vision of the Prime Minister and clean up our streets and localities. It is heartening to witness volunteers coming out on their own to take part in the event. I wish this continues in the future as well,” he said. One of the volunteers, Prashanth Kumar, said that it was remarkable how the message of the Prime Minister has caught on among the youth of the society.
