CHENNAI: Governor Rosaiah launched an ‘Oxford Handbook on Christianity in Asia’ edited by Professor Dr Felix Wilfred, former professor & head, Department of Christian Studies, University of Madras, recently.
Speaking on the occasion, Rosaiah said, “Felix Wilfred deserves commendation for his wonderful work and his significant contribution in bringing out the edited version of the book.”
He added, “This book is yet another evidence to show how such an approach can result in the exploration of multifaceted aspects of various religions in Asia. I am sure that the book, through its scientific approach, will help one to overcome popular misconceptions about the origin, purpose and the present functioning of Asian Christianities.”
The book illustrates the growth of modernity, democracy and human rights thanks to the efforts of Christian missionaries in helping to spread western education.
