CHENNAI: All those travelling to Lloyds Road to have a sip of the aromatic teas and the delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner fixes at Lloyds Tea House, now have another hangout to treat their taste buds. The one-and-a-half year old tea house launched its second restaurant not very far from the first, on TTK Road on Sunday.
With a host of teas made the tea leaves sourced all the way from the estates of Darjeeling, Assam and Nilgiris and the boutique estates tucked in the bucolic parts of the hills, the second tea house will have an array of meal options — again continental.
On the sidelines of the launch of the tea house, Rashmi Jethwani Watwani, one of the partners says, “Alwarpet is a residential place and has a crowd that goes out and experiments with food very often. But we didn’t want to change the name because this is on TTK Road; it is an extension of the brand Lloyds Tea House.”
And, as for its trademark teas, this newly opened space has at least 125 options for tea lovers. Sunny Watwani of Lloyds, elaborates, “We wanted to include more options from countries that are some of the biggest producers of a few varieties of tea. We have green tea from Japan and even within India there are small boutique estates in the pockets of Assam, Darjeeling and Nilgiris. We wanted to introduce and encourage them through our tea house. There is also a stress on health and endurance, with a few tea flavours.”
The newly opened branch of Lloyds Tea House is located on No 406, TTK Road, Alwarpet. Contact 9840331215
