3 More Killed in Separate Accidents

CHENNAI: Three persons including two youth were killed in separate accidents in the city on Wednesday.

Nagaraj (27), of Perungalathur, proceeding in a two-wheeler at 6.30 am was fatally knocked down by a bus belonging to the Saveetha Engineering College on Mudichur Road. His head came under the rear right wheel and died on the spot.

Similarly, Shanmugam (39), of Lakshmi Nagar, Chrompet, riding a two-wheeler died in a head-on collision involving another two-wheeler driven by one Babbulu (20), of Bihar around 4 am. Shanmugam who works in a tannery in the night shift came out to have tea on Thiruneermalai Road when the accident occurred. The bus diver Murugan (32) and Babbulu were arrested by Chrompet Traffic investigation.

In yet another incident, Veeramani (24) a native of Thiruvarur residing in a mansion on Habibullah Road, died on the spot while his friend riding a two-wheeler escaped with severe injuries during a ride to reach the beach.

A BE graduate and employed at a super market in R K Salai, Veeramani took his friend and colleagues Raj Kumar, as his pillion, around 4 am. Veeramani was passing through Binny Road and Cathedral Road junction when he lost control and rammed into the centre median. he suffered head injury and died on the spot while his friend survived with grievous injuries in his left hand and leg.
