CHENNAI: Entrepreneurship, social media, self-branding — the new buzzwords for the ambitious youth today, are gradually finding more place in academic institutions.
To give students an insight on entrepreneurship in social media, the Department of Media Sciences at the Centre of Enterpreneurship Development (CED), Anna University, organised a lecture for students on social media start-up ideas.
“Entrepreneurship is important as everyone cannot take jobs, the demand and supply should match. Digital technology has given us unimaginable things useful for entrepreneurs,” said G Ravikumar, director of CED.
Platforms like blogs and Facebook pages are big for self branding today and Sorav Jain, a digital marketing and social media consultant who was the chief guest, spoke of the importance of online presence. LinkedIn, Twitter and video-blogging, all help in building one’s image, he said.
