Ambattur Orphanage Bags Annual Award

CHENNAI: Bala Gurukulam, an orphanage located in Ambattur, received the Kumara Rajah M A M Muthiah Chettiar Award 2014 for the best orphanage in the State, from the Rajah Annamalai Chettiar Memorial Trust.

The orphanage received the award of `2 lakh for its service to orphaned children in the city. It was presented by Justice V Dhanabalan, Judge,  High Court of Madras, on Saturday. He appreciated the efforts of the organisation for rescuing, educating and serving orphaned children in the city.

He also lauded the R A C Memorial Trust and the Chettiar family for their long history of service to the community. The award was accepted by S K Ranjith, founder and managing trustee of Bala Gurukulam.

The event was attended by the current head of the Chettinad group and president of the R A C Memorial trust M A M R Muthiah, Kalaimamani Ervadi S Radhakrishnan and A R Ramaswamy, honorary secretary of the R A C Memorial Trust.
