CHENNAI: The paperless ticketing facility introduced on the Egmore-Tambaram route of the Chennai suburban train network, has been extended to the entire division, with immediate effect.
This includes Chennai Beach-Gummidipoondi, Chennai Beach-Tiruvallur, Chennai Beach- Velachery and the Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu sections.
Chennai is the first city to have this facility, and the first step towards Indian Railways’ initiative ‘Operation Five Minutes’. Passengers who have booked suburban tickets through this app, must on demand by the ticket checking staff, show the tickets on their phones, failing which they will be treated as travelling without ticket. With this, the Mobile Ticketing Application is fully functional and will issue paperless tickets only.
Earlier, only passengers whose journeys began and ended in the Egmore-Tambaram section were able to avail the paperless ticketing facility. For more details, visit www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in
