Celebrating World Music Day and International Day of Yoga, The Naada Yoga Music Festival will be held on June 20, at the Music Academy. The event has been conceptualised and curated by KN Shashikiran, popular vocalist, founder and trustee of Carnatica Naada Yoga, and presented by The Art of Living and Carnatica, in aid of less privileged children who are studying in city’s Corporation schools.

In order to bring a diverse perspective, the programme will feature great legends such as singer Aruna Sairam, who will be presenting a multilingual vocal concert, where the audience can sing along with the artiste. She will collaborate with the Manganiyar’s — popular singers from Rajasthan of the Nimbuda song fame — who are also known for their folk and sufi music. Also, Grammy Award winner Pandit Vishwamohan Bhatt will be presenting a musical magic through his very own Mohan Veena. The event will commence with a children’s symphony conducted by Sudha Raja, featuring over 100 children singing simple bhajans.

At a press meet conducted to announce the same, K N Shashikiran mentioned the various denominations for the donor passes, which are available from `100 to `5,000, and said that the money would be used to sponsor a child’s education.

Besides, the team is working on a project titled Vidhyadhaan which will help those who want to learn carnatic music from anywhere in the world — both online and live — in connection with World Music Day.

Shashikiran added that the first virtual music live class room titled Gurukool-Gurukul on June 21, which will be streamed from 6 pm through www.carnaticworld.com, can also be watched live at Arkay Convention Centre, Luz, Mylapore.
