CHENNAI: Indian Institute of Technology Madras has strengthened its research links with Russia by signing MoUs with National Research Tomsk State University, Tomsk, and Ural Federal University, Yekaterinburg. The agreements addressed various aspects of collaboration between the institutions, including exchange of students and faculty, joint workshops and symposia, and joint research in disciplines of mutual interest.
Professor Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, signed the MoUs while accompanying a Presidential delegation to Russia. He said that the Institute was pleased to join the venture. “We currently have an active MoU with National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tomsk, and are exploring other tie-ups as well. I am sure our collaborative efforts will lead to innovative and impactful work,”
Professor R Nagarajan, Dean, International and Alumni Relations at the IIT Madras said, “Given Russia’s traditional strengths in science and technology, this is a natural partnership with significant benefits to faculty and students in both countries. We will explore large-scale collaborations, as well as Governmental funding agencies such as DST.”
