Textile Committee gets IP Award in Geographical Indications

CHENNAI: Textiles Committee, a statutory body under the Ministry of Textiles, has received the National Intellectual Property Award 2015 (IP Award) in Geographical Indications (GI). 

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman presented the award to P Nayak, Secretary, Textiles Committee, at a function organised for the celebration of World IP Day by the Indian Intellectual Property Office and Confederation of Indian Industry in New Delhi, recently. The Indian Intellectual Property Office in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry confers the annual National Intellectual Property Awards to outstanding innovators and companies in the field of patents, designs and geographical indications on the occasion of World IP Day, every year.
